Region 8 Healthcare Sector Partnership Successes


Database listing the most common or hard-to-fill healthcare positions in the Valley.

Became affiliated with TalentFound.

Centauri High School HOSA Chapter has increased its resources for students.

A HOSA Chapter was established at Alamosa High School.

TSJC created a Dental Assistant Program.

Stronger partnerships have been made with the private and public sectors.

The Job Shadowing tool from the Workforce Center has been implemented into all the school districts and higher education.

There is more awareness of Career and Job Fairs for the industry and schools.

The ASU Healthcare Administration Program is using local resources for students to increase job exposure.

The Sector created a Scholarship Program with three $2,000 scholarships awarded to students from Sanford (2) and La Jara.

ALAMOSA –On July 2 during their regular meeting, the Region 8 Healthcare Sector Partnership awarded two $2,000 scholarships to healthcare students Lilliana Chavez and Melissa Bower. Both students submitted excellent applications, and both demonstrate a strong commitment to healthcare in the San Luis Valley. Valley-Wide Health Systems, San Luis Valley Health, and the City of Alamosa made the scholarships possible.
“We are very proud of both applicants. They have each shown us their clear desire to work in healthcare and the San Luis Valley and we are pleased to help them in this way,” said City of Alamosa Economic Development Director Kathy Woods.
The Sector Partnership’s goal is to strengthen the healthcare pipeline for the San Luis Valley by raising awareness of local education and careers while working with partners to close gaps and enhance resources. Region 8 Healthcare Sector Partnership Awards Scholarships


On August 7, 2018, the Region 8 Healthcare Sector Partnership awarded three $2000 scholarships to healthcare students Lilliana Marie Chavez, Victoria Lindsay Campbell, and Savanna Rochelle Edgar. The Sector Partnerships goal is to strengthen the healthcare pipeline for the San Luis Valley, by raising awareness of education and careers in the Valley while working with partners to close gaps and enhance resources.
